We not only focus on academics but also cater to the holistic development of society. The International day for eradication of poverty was celebrated on 17th October. Our students celebrated the day by contributing generously towards the needy and less fortunate of our neighbourhood.As a part of the curriculum, students of Std. IX & X were taken for an educational tour to Vedanthagal.
This was a learning experience for them. On the 27th of September, World Tourism Day, the students of Std. XI took a trip to Goa, a verdant natural paradise.A medical health check up was conducted and organized by Arokya Dairies on 6th November 2013. A thorough check up of the ENT was done.Std. X to XII displayed their projects on 26th of July and Std. VI to IX displayed their projects on 29th November to enhance the concept of continuous cumulative evaluation. By this the students got an opportunity to showcase their creativity and imagination. Some of the topics they worked on were waste management, rain water harvesting and future cities.
The students participated with great enthusiasm.In the month of August, seven of our girl guides participated in the Rajya Puraskar test camp and were selected for the same.On 2nd December the Red Ribbon Club conducted an assembly to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS. Mrs. Kowsalya Periasamy, President of Positive Women’s Network (PWN) spoke to the students on how to accept HIV infected people in our society. It was indeed an interactive session.
An Evening of entertainment was organised by the Alumni of our school, on 16th August 2013. The very popular wheel of fortune was conducted and the parents and students enjoyed themselves.The annual general body meeting of the Alumni was held on 20th October in our school campus. The new office bearers were elected for the year 2013 -2015.
We teach also instill in our students the need to live up to our motto; “For faith and morals.” The first Friday masses of every month inculcate in our students the need to get closer to God. We are thankful to the Parish Priest and all the Priests of our Lady of Lourdes Shrine who take great interest in preparing the Eucharistic celebration.
A day in the school calendar is set apart for class retreats, through which students experience God’s love. Values are imparted to students without upsetting religious sentiments.Jeremiah Chapter 17 Verse7 Says….. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his hope and confidence.I conclude on this note of “Hope”. I thank the Almighty for this year, and close with the hope of sustained accomplishments in the next academic year.
